For this project, Edward and Anna came to us looking for an L-shaped loft conversion in London. They were looking to extend their Wimbledon property, and it would actually prove to be one of the most challenging conversions that we have worked on. However, at Central Lofts, we’re experts at L-shaped lofts and we thrive on a challenge! We’re happy to spend all of the time that our clients need planning ahead; finding out what they want to achieve from their new build space and suggesting ideas that make their dreams a reality.

Our clients were looking to add two bedrooms and a bathroom and our team of dedicated planners and designers looked to find the right solution that would provide them with the much-desired space. We built everything from new, including the roof, and our clients also chose us to complete the decoration too; creating a beautiful extension to their new home.

With a total project cost of £52,000, our clients were delighted with their new home space. At Central Lofts we also ensure that every client is allocated a project manager; with a responsibility to keep our clients updated at every stage of the build. And our clients were certainly pleased with their results.

Local Council Knowledge:

Having worked with many local councils across London and the M25, you’ll be glad to know that many cases won’t actually require planning permission.However you may need permission to start the build work.There are however specific conditions that will mean that you will need planning permission:

  • Balconies, raised platforms or verandas

  • Extensions higher than the height of the existing roof

  • Extensions overhanging the outer facing wall

  • Materials different from those of your current build

  • Extensions in conservation areas/areas of outstanding beauty

  • Obscured glaze-fitted side-facing windows

  • Additional roof space of over 40m³ for terraced houses

  • Additional roof space of over 50m³ for semi-detached or detached houses

  • Houses facing the road – extensions beyond the plane of the current slope on the principal elevation
