Bespoke Treehouse - Large
All our tree-houses are built to any size from 100% solid wood. They are strong & durable, insulated, crafted and constructed on site, hand made to clients’ individual specification, even for commercial B&B use.
Treehouses are our speciality – built to last, whether for adults or children. They can be simple and fun, cosy and well-equipped, spacious and accommodating, according to your individual needs. After 20 years’ experience, we can advise on all aspects and produce plans if planning permission is necessary.
Each treehouse is designed to suit the client’s specific requirements and advice given on planning application if needed. Concepts are produced to appeal to individual users, be they boys, girls, adults, in all manner of locations. Engaging accessories and strong and natural materials will ensure long-lasting enjoyment. Our work is of a high quality, carried out by a hard-working, polite and considerate team.
All are bespoke, so no set dimensions. They are made from natural wood, inside and out, can be insulated throughout, have windows, internal doors, fitted shelving, bunk beds, step ladders, bells and whistles – whatever the client wishes, to suit their budget. We don’t do the electrics and plumbing. This needs to be done by local contractors.
We can offer prompt quotes and advice on every aspect of the design and building of your structure, including tree suitability, size and style, safety, location, maintenance, as well as what is appropriate for different ages and uses - classic outdoor toys and playhouses for children and grown-ups alike!
Specification
What is the tree house made from?… We use Douglas fir for all structural timbers except for legs, where necessary, when we use oak trunks. Ordinary pine is suitable for internal joists, etc, waney edge and feather board is made from larch and cedar (surprisingly!) for cedar shakes for the roof.
Will you design my tree house even though we have ideas of our own?… Most people have already thought about what they want before we come for our initial visit. Almost always the end result is a mixture of your ideas and ours. If you would like us to design everything and help you from the first step then that would be our pleasure. Examples of very popular additions to tree houses are climbing ropes, rope ladders, Burma rope bridges, firemen’s poles, climbing walls, monkey bars, swings, crows nests, trapezes and zip wires.
All the timber we use is pressure-treated and will last many years, although it’s not guaranteed, being a natural material. Like any building, particularly wooden, the more you look after it the longer it will last. We suggest a thorough clean of the deck every couple of years and then a complete soaking with a clear wood preservative over the whole structure, making sure all the nooks and crannies are well and truly soaked. The advantage of using a colourless preservative is that you can be very generous in your application. Wood rot mainly happens in joints where the timber remains wet.
Prices for ‘Large’ Bespoke treehouses range from £80,000 to £150,000. This excludes the cost of water, electrics, plumbing, fittings and fixtures (these can be implemented by a third party company). For a smaller option (starting at £15,000) please select the ‘See more from this Seller’ tab above.
